Dmitry Peskov

Switzerland's decision not to accept for accreditation to the summit of Russian and US Presidents Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden a certificate of vaccination with the Sputnik V vaccine will not affect Russia's decision to hold a meeting in Geneva, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, RIA Novosti reports.

When asked if this would affect the choice of the Geneva venue for the meeting, the Kremlin spokesman briefly replied: "No."

The White House explained why Biden needs a meeting with Putin Politics

Earlier, on June 2, the Swiss Foreign Ministry opened media accreditation for a meeting between Putin and Biden. For accreditation, journalists must provide one of the following documents: a coronavirus vaccination certificate, a negative PCR test taken less than 72 hours before application, a negative antigen test (done within 48 hours), or a certificate of having experienced COVID -19 .

Pierre-Alain Eltschinger, spokesman for the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (MFA), told RIA Novosti that vaccination certificates will only be accepted with drugs approved by the European Medicines Agency or Switzerland, which do not include Russian vaccines.
