School students will switch to distance learning only in case of an emergency with the spread of covid-19 , HEAD of the Ministry of Education Sergei Kravtsov told reporters.

“After the winter holidays, schools will continue to work in full-time format, switching to distance learning only in an emergency. We don’t see a situation to introduce a remote format,” he said.

At the same time, Kravtsov noted that the department would monitor the development of the epidemiological situation during the New Year holidays, and indicated that each subject of the Federation would independently decide whether to switch to a remote learning format or not. “Moscow has decided to leave early on December 27 for the holidays. As for the rest of the regions - individually. But in general, everything is starting on schedule,” he concluded.

Holidays for Moscow schoolchildren were supposed to begin on December 30, but the authorities decided to increase them by three days and bring the duration to two weeks.
