“There is already a completed vaccine design in the refrigerator,” he said.

At the same time, according to Gunzburg, it is too early to say how effective the modification will be. “Everyone started making a vaccine based on the sequence of the delta strain, and no one can say a priori whether it will be better than [already drugs] against the delta strain,” Gunzburg explained.

The fact that the developer of Sputnik V intends to create a separate version of the vaccine against the delta strain was reported in mid-June on the official Twitter account of the drug. Sputnik V will soon offer other vaccine manufacturers a booster dose tailored to work against the delta variant of the coronavirus first detected in India.
