If world leaders decide to mend their relationship with Putin, they will make the same mistake they made after 2014,says British Prime Minister Boris Johnson

Countries should not try to take a "realpolitik" position towards Russian President Vladimir Putin and build relations with him, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said at the Conservative Party convention, reports The Guardian.

“I know that there are people in the world who say that it is better to come to terms with tyranny. I think they are deeply mistaken,” Johnson said. In his opinion, it would be a mistake to try to normalize relations with Putin, as was done after the events of 2014 in Crimea.

In addition, Johnson warned that the world is in for a "new era of intimidation" from the Baltic to the Black Sea if RUSSIA succeeds in a special operation in Ukraine. The Prime Minister pointed out that in this case, freedom in Georgia and Moldova, as well as all of Eastern Europe, would be threatened.

“This is a turning point for the world. This is the moment of choice. It is a choice between freedom and oppression,” added the British politician.

Johnson during his speech expressed solidarity with the Ukrainians and said that Putin, initiating a special operation, made a "catastrophic mistake."
