December 21, MINSK. MILK yield in the Minsk region at the end of the year will amount to a record 2 million tons. Alexander Turchin, Chairman of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee, told journalists about this after the ceremony honoring the best agricultural workers in Uzda, BelTA has learned.
In Uzda today honored the winners of the regional competition for achieving the best performance in the development of the agro-industrial complex. Alexander Turchin presented well-deserved awards to the heads of districts and agricultural organizations, who became the winners of the competition. In addition to districts, enterprises and farms, awards were presented to the best livestock breeders, machine milking operators, chief veterinarians and livestock specialists.Alexander Turchin noted that every year the best plant growers are honored at the regional "Dazhynki", while the livestock breeders remain on the sidelines. Now a new tradition is emerging in the Minsk region - honoring the best workers in the livestock sector. "In my opinion, the livestock industry is no less, and perhaps even more important than crop production. Livestock provides peasants with constant income throughout the year. In addition, it is a source for paying wages. It should be noted that our milk yield amounted to more than 2 million tons," he said.
The Chairman of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee noted that, thanks to the support of the President, the construction of a large number of new dairy farms will begin next year in the central region. “This is the first time we have approached such a large-scale project, and we have a lot of work to do in 2023. This will ensure proper conditions for livestock and allow us to work more efficiently in order to receive not only a high milk yield, but also a profit from milk production. And if we we profit from it, then we can talk about efficient agriculture in general. The basis of the economy of most farms is dairy cattle breeding," Alexander Turchin emphasized. At the same time, he added, the production of agricultural crops plays a significant role: SUGAR beets, potatoes, rapeseed.
"Today's event is a tribute to the honored workers of agriculture. We should hold such events every year, and this is only a small part of what we could do for people who work very hard work," Alexander Turchin believes.
Answering a question about the results of the year, the governor said that this year the Minsk region managed to increase the amount of profit from agriculture. In addition, he drew attention to the growth of exports, including to RUSSIA. "The last visit to the Leningrad region shows that we have significant prospects," Alexander Turchin emphasized.
