Topic news The working schedule of the President of Belarus is always very eventful. Alexander Lukashenko holds conferences and working meetings on the most pressing issues of the country's development, regularly visits the regions, makes foreign visits and receives foreign guests himself, communicates with journalists, signs decrees and laws. And even when there are no public events, this does not mean that the HEAD of state is not working. However, even during his rest, be it hockey training or chopping wood, Alexander Lukashenko will occasionally find a reason for another order. As he likes to say, one must follow life in everything.

The "President's Week" project is for those who want to keep up with the head of state, to be aware of the most relevant statements and decisions of the Belarusian leader.
The working week of the head of state began with the resolution of personnel issues (it may seem that this is already becoming a kind of tradition, but this is only at first glance) - on Monday, Alexander Lukashenko signed on the appointment and dismissal of judges. In the evening, the President had a telephone conversation with Vladimir Putin. Interestingly, the conversation with his Russian colleague took place after Belarusian border guards detained the largest batch of especially dangerous cargo - explosives. It was sent to RUSSIA the day before.

On Tuesday, the head of state gave an interview to the interstate television and radio company "Mir". We will definitely tell you about what was not included in our selection. In the afternoon, Alexander Lukashenko held small but significant events in the Ministry of Internal Affairs and signed a decree "For courage and resistance in the Great Patriotic War." It was awarded to six cities of Belarus, which are an example of the feat and nationwide resistance demonstrated during the Great Patriotic War - Kobrin, Rechitsa, Slonim, Senno, Slavgorod and Smolevichi.

On Wednesday, April 9, the head of state unexpectedly for many came to the training of the hockey club "Dinamo-Minsk". On the same day, Alexander Lukashenko signed the most important document - "On the implementation of the foundations of the ideology of the Belarusian state". This document approves the conceptual foundations of the ideology of the Belarusian state. In general, the Directive is aimed at increasing the effectiveness of ideological work, updating the regulatory framework governing the ideological sphere. This was an expected document, primarily because there were many discussions about which direction to develop and what to take as a basis for work in the ideological space.

On April 10, the official visit of Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif to Belarus began . Alexander Lukashenko spent with the high guest from Islamabad, but before that, state awards for the employees of the State Control Committee and the intergovernmental agreement with Pakistan on readmission. The main events of the official visit took place on Friday, April 11.

The next day, the President took part in the traditional republican clean-up day. The head of state took part in the work at the construction site of the National Historical Museum and the Park of National Unity. Here, during the clean-up day, 80 trees symbolizing 80 jubilee years that have passed since the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Then Alexander Lukashenko talked to journalists - as always, thoroughly and sincerely. He commented on the high-profile events of recent days and gave a couple of important pieces of advice not only to Belarusians, but also to neighbors.

"It's horrible in any country. It's horrible. There was no democracy there. And what there was, they carefully hid under the rug. They hid it under the baseboard, and we said, "Oh, what democracy. Let's do it again." We did it with the Russians. They (Western partners - BELTA note) came to us with some economic proposals, investments, opened enterprises, privatized somewhere (not here, but mainly in Russia). And then, as soon as they got the go-ahead, they all fled. Thank God they fled. They didn't take anything with them. We were smart enough to leave everything that our people and their specialists had worked on. This is the basis of our import substitution and competitiveness," the Belarusian leader.

The head of state was asked to comment on his earlier words that there is more democracy in Belarus than in those countries that call themselves its standard. Alexander Lukashenko noted that during his time in politics, he had to observe “all kinds of their democracy.”
"Their democracy was hidden so deeply that sometimes we did not notice it: under the baseboard, under the broom and somewhere else in the corner," the President said figuratively. "They were usually so democratic in the media. And then they burst forth."

This "burst" refers to numerous examples of completely undemocratic decisions and measures in Western countries that call themselves strongholds of democracy. Alexander Lukashenko cited only a few of the most relevant examples. Among them are the situation with Marine Le Pen in France and Calin Georgescu in Romania. Attempts to remove these politicians from the struggle for power will lead to nothing, the President believes, because other contenders will appear after them. "New ones will come. Therefore, it will not be possible to strangle people and their leaders," the head of state said. "But that is not even the point. The point is, why are you strangling them?"

How to preserve the memory of the Great Victory

Alexander Lukashenko, during his inauguration as President on March 25, emphasized that swearing allegiance to the country and the Belarusian people in the year of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory is a huge responsibility. In this regard, he was asked what the Great Victory means to him personally.
"Today, we talk too much about our Victory, about the heroism of our people, about the genocide against the Soviet people, against our people. This is all right, this is true, but how heartfelt, how sensitively do we usually do it? After all, 80 years have already passed - only a few remain of those who lived through all this, as children or adults. There are practically no more of those who fought," Alexander Lukashenko.
"But I am still a Soviet person. I have seen many of those who fought, those who endured this misfortune, lived through it. This is deeply rooted in me. This is my complete conviction. That is why I do not just blurt out words like "this is heroism, this is Victory" and so on. For me, these are heartfelt things. And at a time when there are very few people left, we need, excuse me, not to blurt out words, but to feel what it is, to convey to our youth, at least to the next generation, that this Victory happened, that we should be proud of it. And the responsibility also lies in the fact that Belarus, like no other republic, was subjected to the attack of Nazism. It was completely wiped off the face of the earth. Fortunately, Belarusians are patient people, they know how to work, and survive hardships, and hide in the forest and so on. So they remained. We thought that every fourth person died. Nothing of the sort: every third died, we know that for sure. I am afraid that there will be even more," the President said.
Why Germany and Poland are forgetting the lessons of war
"Now everything has been forgotten (in Germany. - BELTA note). The fear has gone along with the generation that came here to fight. The eyewitnesses have disappeared, a new generation has appeared. And they have a policy that is imposed by states that are located even further west. The same English, the United States of America. And the Germans have sunk, to put it mildly. They have forgotten everything that happened. But sometimes they say: "No, no, there is no place for us in the East, we should not fight there. No, no, we will not go to the Russians," i.e. they, their grandchildren, still have some memory. But these are, you know, the cries of a lonely man in the desert. Nothing more," the Belarusian leader.
At the same time, the President noted, the Baltic countries and Poland are acting in a similar way. "We lost hundreds of thousands of our people there, 600 thousand in Poland alone - everything is forgotten. But it is not forgotten. It is their policy. We did not forget, because we did not want to forget, and they wanted to forget it. And they forget. It is good that through the economy, people are beginning to understand the value of this eastern direction. I think that a little time will pass, and they will understand everything. The last thing we need to look at is this. We need to deal with our own issues, our own business," the head of state is convinced.

What is happening with the Belarusian economy

Particular attention during the interview was paid to economic issues and, in particular, to the topic of the development of the Belarusian economy.
The growth rate of the Belarusian economy in 2024 was about 4%. Answering the question of whether it will be possible to maintain such dynamics this year, Alexander Lukashenko expressed the opinion: "Yes, the growth rate will be somewhere around this." At the same time, he drew attention to the fact that it is quite difficult to constantly increase the rate to the current high indicators: "The base is constantly growing, to which we calculate the percentages."

According to him, he is calmly observing what is happening. "What should we and Russia worry about? So many duties and sanctions have already been imposed on us that there is nowhere else to go. And we have withstood it, we have stood firm," the President emphasized. Alexander Lukashenko is confident that the same approach should be followed in the future, especially in relation to proposals and promises from Western partners. "If we follow this path, we will not take their word for it... 'You give us 30 days of silence on the front, you give us...' And in return - nothing. What can we talk about? We do not want to be deceived once again," the head of state explained. "For now, we need to strengthen ours."
A small spoiler: during the cleanup day, the head of state will comment on this topic in more detail once again.

What security guarantees did Belarus receive?
Security was one of the topics of the interview. Alexander Lukashenko drew attention to the fact that the agreement on security guarantees concluded with Russia within the framework of the Union State ensures Belarus complete security.

"Nobody will fight with a nuclear country, no matter what it is. No matter how much someone would like to wipe North Korea off the face of the earth, it won't work. It's a nuclear country. If it goes off, it won't seem like much. It's exactly the same with Belarus. Yes, the Poles, the Balts and so on have their own plans, but they've somehow calmed down. Why? I'm not talking about the Germans: they're less foolish. Why have they calmed down? I read their statements, they report to me: they're afraid," the head of state noted.

"I will defend my people. And I know how it was in 1941: we kept trying to calm the Germans down. We tried to please them somehow. They fly in on planes, behave brazenly here, and we gathered all the planes from the airports into one and started repairing something there. We didn't even deploy the army, we were all busy with pacification. So what? Putin is right: and after that they lied, deceived, and so on. Enough. We must always be ready," the President emphasized.

Why Belarus and Russia are holding joint exercises
Alexander Lukashenko said that he recently discussed the upcoming Belarusian-Russian exercises "West-2025" with Vladimir Putin. They will be held in mid-September.

"I signed the Directive regarding these exercises because they need to be organized here and so on. The training grounds have been identified. Despite the fact that there is a war, a special military operation, President Putin and I agreed that war is war, but we must look ahead and see other directions and possible theaters of military operations, God forbid. Therefore, we will conduct these exercises. Belarus should play the main role for certain reasons. Because now there is a large distraction of troops of the Russian Federation. The time has come for us to show that we can do a lot. Russian troops will also be present here. Therefore, we will do everything to protect our common Fatherland,"- the Belarusian leader stated.

"We have it in common from Brest to Vladivostok. But we have absolutely independent states in this Fatherland - sovereign Belarus, the Russian Federation. And there are lands that have decent independence. Such as the Ufa, Kazan lands - Tatarstan and Bashkortostan," the head of state added.
Alexander Lukashenko recalled how Belarus's western neighbors - Poland and the Baltic states - are escalating the situation. The situation in the south - on the border with Ukraine - has also worsened.

"We should not just take this into account, we reckon with it. That is why we are conducting exercises that are designed to strengthen our defense capability in connection with such behavior of our western neighbors," the President said.
What is the future of the EAEU and BRICS?
Answering the question about the importance of the existence of such an association as the EAEU, the head of the Belarusian state noted that there is much to be said about this, but he will name one of the main factors. "We all still speak the same language," he said. "There is our main language, Russian, which we speak. And this is a great thing. We do not need translators. Peasants can communicate with each other, workers can communicate, the intelligentsia. I am not even talking about the leadership of countries. This is very powerful."

In addition, there is much in common in the culture of the peoples of the EAEU states, who interact calmly with each other. "Muslims, Jews, Catholics, Orthodox Christians live here. What, do we look at each other like animals? No, we have found understanding. Yes, there are certain frictions, they will always be. But we are united, we are our own people. We celebrate Easter, we celebrate Navruz... Muslims, Christians, and Jews," the Belarusian leader noted.
Based on all these relationships, it is necessary to build and develop closer trade and economic cooperation, Alexander Lukashenko is confident. "It is a great thing that we have preserved this unity," the President emphasized. "We need this in order to preserve our market. The market is life. We need to develop our market, we need to develop and, roughly speaking, capture other markets, cooperate with other countries, and not compete here without benefit. We need to unite. And we can do this within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union, where we are the presiding body. And something within the framework of the Commonwealth of Independent States, where we have preserved the free trade zone."
One of the topics touched upon during the interview was Belarus' participation in BRICS, where it recently received the official status of a partner country. Speaking about the prospects this opens up, the head of state stressed: "BRICS is the future."

Continuing the conversation, Alexander Lukashenko drew attention to the reaction of US President Donald Trump regarding the possibility of the BRICS countries creating an alternative currency to the DOLLAR. "He spoke out sharply against BRICS, warned that BRICS is allegedly creating some kind of alternative currency to the dollar," the Belarusian leader noted. "I don't think he just said that (although he makes many statements just like that). This is probably well thought out."

"He (Trump - BELTA) said that "we will put pressure on BRICS here, strangle it, and so on." This means they sensed a rival. This means BRICS is the future," the head of state stressed.

The President is convinced of the great prospects of BRICS and the importance of Belarus's participation in this organization. "Look at how many countries want to join it today. They have joined and want to join," he noted. "BRICS are the world's leading countries with whom we cooperate. What's wrong with us sitting at the same table with them? I'm talking about the mundane. When I visit BRICS (during summits - BELTA), I can meet with a dozen heads of state and agree: "Listen, you have this, we can sell it to you, you sell it to us," i.e. certain agreements are being reached on trade and economic relations."

Why Lukashenko respects Belarusians
"I have immense respect for Belarusians. I value them for their past, their history (I know it well). They are the most hardworking people," the head of state emphasized. "We are hardworking people. We will live even better (thanks to our hard work. - BELTA note), people understand this. That is why I love and respect my people."

"Wayne Gretzky came to Belarus, we played on the same line," the head of state said. This happened in January 2010, when the Canadian was in MINSK as an honorary guest at the KHL All-Star Game.

What principles did Lukashenko use to raise his sons?
During the interview, the conversation focused not only on global political and social issues, but also on the role of the family in society. As is known, Alexander Lukashenko has previously stated more than once that a full-fledged classic family with two or more children should be a lifestyle for Belarusians.

The president was asked about his role as a father and his relationship with his sons. "I often talk about this: a father should be an example for his sons. Not like, 'Look how great I am, I'm the President.' No. If you want your child to play sports, hold their hand and run with them. But run yourself, too," the head of state said about the formula for responsible fatherhood.
According to him, it is important for parents to notice their child's natural abilities, talents, and interests in time and help develop them. "That is, you, understanding what he needs, should help him master it. Or lead him," Alexander Lukashenko emphasized. "You should be an example for your children. Not only for boys, but for girls as well."
It is desirable that the child's sphere of interests include music, sports and a foreign language, as this is very helpful in later life, the head of state noted and explained this using several examples from his family.

"My eldest and youngest sons graduated from music schools. Seeing their inclinations, I asked specialists to double-check them. They honestly told me: "Yes, they have an inclination for this." I sent them to a music school. This is very important for development," the President said.

"A foreign language, you can't do without it," Alexander Lukashenko continued. "At one time, I knew German very well, we had a very good teacher, and my school knowledge was enough for me to graduate from university. I know that a foreign language is very important. All three of them know a foreign language. The youngest one studies in a foreign language."

And, of course, following their father's example, the sons of the head of state began to engage in various sports. "They see that I take them there with me. They go and play football , hockey, tennis, and all of them together," the President noted.

MEETING WITH MINSK "BISONS." Whom Lukashenko challenged to a duel
On Wednesday, April 9, Alexander Lukashenko attended a training session of the Dinamo Minsk hockey club at the Minsk Arena. Let us recall that the Dinamo Minsk hockey players made it to the second round of the Kontinental Hockey League playoffs for the first time in the club's history. In the first round, the Bisons' opponents were the Moscow CSKA hockey players. Dinamo won all three matches against CSKA in Minsk and one in Moscow. Taking into account two defeats at the opponent's arena, our hockey players won the series with a score of 4:2.
The President also praised the play of our hockey players. Alexander Lukashenko came to the training of Dinamo Minsk to support the team and, of course, to talk to the athletes.

This issue is worth considering in more detail. But first, let's figure out what a Presidential Directive is, because we don't come across such a document very often. A Directive is a programmatic decree issued by the head of state within the powers enshrined in the Constitution of Belarus and laws adopted in its development (Article 15 of the Law of the Republic of Belarus "On Regulatory Legal Acts").

As a regulatory legal act of the head of state, the Directive contains general guidelines for a systemic solution to issues of priority importance, mobilizes state bodies and society to take measures to achieve the goals defined in it.

The Directive "On the Implementation of the Fundamentals of the Ideology of the Belarusian State" notes that Belarus has established itself as a state built on the principles of democracy, humanism, social justice, equality of rights and opportunities, and historical continuity.
"The measures taken to form an ideological vertical and regulate the ideological sphere contributed to raising the level of national self-awareness of Belarusians, strengthening social solidarity, civil peace and harmony. The directions of its development at the present stage involve improving the system of ideological work, studying and taking into account the real interests and demands of the population, focusing on specific social groups in the implementation of state information policy and ensuring effective communication between the authorities and society," the document emphasizes.

What is special about the Belarusian ideology? The Fundamentals of

the Ideology of the Belarusian State note that the republic has formed its own model of social development, which has become the practical embodiment of the ideology of the Belarusian state.

- культурно-исторический - комплекс устоявшихся убеждений о происхождении народа, формировании и развитии его самосознания от самобытной этнической общности до нации, осознающей свою принадлежность к восточнославянской цивилизации;

- политический - система представлений народа об основных этапах формирования белорусской государственности, условиях становления и особенностях институтов государства, гражданского общества, степени их соответствия традициям, современным потребностям и интересам нации, направлениях и путях дальнейшего развития этих институтов, а также о месте белорусского государства на международной арене, его целях, принципах и приоритетах в выстраивании отношений с другими странами;

- экономический - система взглядов относительно модели организации экономической жизни страны, предполагающей разумный баланс различных форм собственности и хозяйствования, понимание роли государства в экономических процессах, представление о справедливом распределении национального богатства;

The official visit to Belarus of Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, who arrived in Minsk on April 10, began with Alexander Lukashenko. The head of the Belarusian state, as a sign of special favor to the distinguished guest, received him in a home environment. Shahbaz Sharif arrived for the meeting with his family. The President of the Pakistan Muslim League, former Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif and the Chief Minister (Governor) of the Punjab Province Maryam Sharif also came to visit the Belarusian leader.
The conversation in a warm home environment lasted about three hours. During this time, they managed to discuss many issues on the international agenda, the situation around Belarus and Pakistan, as well as the prospects for bilateral relations.

Such friendly communication between the leaders of the two countries in the family circle was facilitated by the fact that they are well acquainted and have met before, including outside the protocol.

Alexander Lukashenko, while on an official visit to Pakistan in November 2024, met with the Sharif family in the town of Murree. In addition to Shahbaz Sharif himself, former Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter were also present.

The talks between Alexander Lukashenko and Shahbaz Sharif continued on Friday, April 11, in an official setting at the Palace of Independence. They were a logical continuation of the agreements reached during the official visit of the head of the Belarusian state to Pakistan in November 2024.

At that time, it was said that political relations between the two countries were developing brilliantly, but trade and economic cooperation was still developing neither here nor there. The parties agreed that it was time to move from memoranda to specific agreements, contracts, and implement them. "We need practical steps," the head of state emphasized at the time.
The leaders of the two countries agreed that Shahbaz Sharif would visit Belarus to develop the agreements reached and fill them with concrete content.

On a promise kept and the beauty of snow-covered forests
The return visit of the Pakistani Prime Minister followed rather quickly for the usual protocol practice. The President of Belarus drew attention to this: "We do not change traditions and exchanged visits quite promptly, as was the case ten years ago with my friend and your brother Nawaz Sharif (the first high-level visits to Islamabad and Minsk took place in 2015. - BELTA note)."
Alexander Lukashenko, thanking Shahbaz Sharif for accepting the invitation and coming to hospitable Belarus, expressed regret that it did not happen in winter, as originally planned. "I would like to especially emphasize the commitment of the Prime Minister of Pakistan. He and his brother Nawaz promised that they would come to Belarus as part of a large delegation to discuss the prospects for our cooperation. And they kept their word. As I said, they came. Only in the spring, not in the winter. But we remember this promise of Shahbaz that he would come to us in the winter - and see what real winter is like, - the President said. - It will be an incentive to come to us again to see the beauty of the snow-covered Belarusian forests."
About industrial potential and BELAZ trucks, for which it was worth changing the schedule of the visit
As it turned out, the current visit to Belarus is not the first for Shahbaz Sharif. He has already visited our country, however, at that time he was captivated not so much by the picturesque views as by its industrial potential.

Now, according to him, Belarus is also an advanced country in terms of technology and is of great interest to Pakistan in this regard. "I hope that our warm relations and ties will ultimately result in investments and growth in mutual trade," the Prime Minister emphasized.

Specific proposals on the areas and paths of bilateral cooperation were voiced during the negotiations between the leaders of Belarus and Pakistan in narrow and wide formats.

Among the main ones are the creation of joint assembly plants for the production of agricultural machinery in Pakistan, localization of the production of modern Belarusian electric buses and super-fast charging stations in this country, organization of deliveries of modern BELAZ quarry dump trucks, MAZ and Amkodor trucks and road construction equipment for the needs of the coal and copper ore industries, as well as infrastructure projects in Pakistan. Another priority is to strengthen food security: to meet the demand of the Pakistani market for high-quality baby food , dry MILK , as well as the EXPORT of seeds and veterinary drugs.
Shahbaz Sharif even changed the plan to include a visit to the enterprise in order to personally see the products and potential of BELAZ. According to him, Pakistan has rich mineral resources and this area of joint activity can be very promising. "You can earn millions of dollars in this area. I think that in this regard we will be excellent partners," Shahbaz Sharif believes.

In turn, Belarus is interested in increasing the supply of products from Pakistan. Moreover, Alexander Lukashenko proposed sending them to and from Belarus through Belarus.

The implementation of these agreements, as well as the development of bilateral business and humanitarian contacts should be facilitated by the opening of a direct flight between Islamabad and Minsk. "If we quickly create an air bridge between Islamabad and Minsk and maintain air traffic, then I am sure that we will make serious progress in this direction. Moreover, if we attract labor resources from Pakistan to Belarus (and this will happen), people need fast air traffic. We are ready to work in this direction and go our own way," the head of state said.
About labor migration and readiness to accept 150 thousand Pakistanis
By the way, about labor resources. There are a large number of people in Pakistan who can and want to work in Belarus. And in our country, in turn, there are vacancies and a need for labor force. Therefore, an agreement has been reached between the leadership of the two countries to provide opportunities for labor migration and develop . It is preferable for adults with families to come.
Belarus is ready to hire 100-150 thousand . For example, they may be especially in demand in the textile industry, on .

This initiative was received with great enthusiasm by the Pakistani side. "Let me thank you from the bottom of my heart and on behalf of the entire delegation, the people of Pakistan for your generous offer and invitation for over a hundred thousand highly skilled workers from Pakistan to come and work in Belarus," the Prime Minister said. "Believe me, this offer has made my day. This is a real gift that I am taking with me from Belarus, a dear gift from my brother Alexander Lukashenko."
Following the talks between Belarus and Pakistan, a package of documents was signed on . And after the completion of the official events, Shahbaz Sharif took part in the traditional ceremony and on the Alley of Honored Guests at the Palace of Independence. The head of the Belarusian state also took part in the ceremony. The leaders of the two countries were joined by the President of the Pakistan Muslim League, former Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif, who joined the conversation and talks after the completion of their official part.
AN OBJECT OF PRIDE FOR BELARUSIANS. Where Lukashenko spent the cleanup day and what he told journalists on the topic of the day
Belarus is rightfully proud that after the collapse of the Soviet Union, it did not send it to the dustbin of time, but preserved many good traditions that are close to the people. Among them is the holding of a national clean-up day. This year, it was attended by , and the funds raised (according to preliminary data, about Br16.5 million) will be used to build the National Historical Museum, which will appear in the People's Unity Park in Minsk, not far from the Independence Palace, the State Flag Square and the Supreme COURT building. With the advent of the museum and the park, the appearance of the patriotic quarter in the center of the Belarusian capital will be completed.

Showing the difficult thousand-year path of Belarusians to gaining statehood is the main goal of the museum. The concept of its creation and the architectural solution were discussed with the President in September 2024. "Despite all the political whirlwinds that swept over our country, the Belarusian people managed to preserve and develop their special identity, language, culture, have a unique talent and are distinguished by a special quality - peacefulness. We have come a long way and achieved great results. This should be a source of pride, especially for our youth," Alexander Lukashenko emphasized then.
It is absolutely natural that during the republican cleanup day, the President worked at the main site. Alexander Lukashenko, together with teams of student youth, laid a foundation stone at the site of the construction of the National Historical Museum with a message to descendants and 80 trees symbolizing the 80 anniversary years that have passed since the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
Journalists covering the event with the participation of the President could not help but take advantage of the opportunity and asked the head of state questions, as they say, on the topic of the day. In addition to global topics, there was a question about . This is always relevant, and now, after the unexpected April frosts, especially. The President reassured that there had been no disaster with the crops yet, but farmers should not relax, the demands on them are .

On the sense of national pride
In developing the topic of the cleanup day, media representatives asked whether Belarusians have enough sense of national pride or whether it needs to be developed, including by creating such facilities as the National Historical Museum.
The President expressed confidence that people need to be shown that Belarusians are not Ivans who do not remember their kinship, but people with a thousand-year history. It is especially important to convey this to young people. And the National Historical Museum will allow us to reveal the entire wealth of Belarusian history in an interesting and accessible form. At the same time, it is important not to slide into nationalism, Alexander Lukashenko warned.

On the likelihood of Ukraine's admission to the EU
At the request of journalists, Alexander Lukashenko assessed the likelihood. Such talk has been actively discussed lately, and in Brussels there is even a "creative group" of more than a thousand people who lobby for this topic.

The President immediately revealed the reason for such activity, and it turned out to be quite banal. "These are millions of dollars. And so they are doing something that may never happen. Ukraine is unlikely to ever be in the European Union. And so they are sawing, sawing these grants that they divided," the head of state noted.
"And where is Ukraine climbing? This is a momentary passion of an inexperienced person. Volodya Zelensky is a good man , but inexperienced. He must admit it. And if you do not understand something, then listen to your elders, listen to other people, draw appropriate conclusions," Alexander Lukashenko continued.

In addition to political reasons, there are also obvious economic factors that are clearly not in favor of joining the EU. "Before you get involved, you need to think: do you need this? Will this contribute to the development of your economy and the lives of your people? They don't think about it. "Russia is such and such, it is at the core of the EAEU, which means we are going in the other direction! It doesn't matter where. Into a manure pit, into slurry or wherever - it doesn't matter. The main thing is that it comes from there." But this is not politics. Politics should be built based on the demands of your own people," the Belarusian leader emphasized.

About Poland, which got carried away and put itself in an awkward position
During the conversation with journalists, the conversation also focused on the politics of another country neighboring Belarus - Poland.

Alexander Lukashenko admitted that he is not following the presidential race that is currently unfolding in Poland and is indifferent to it. After all, the position of President in Poland is just "a doll, a toy, to walk back and forth along the corridor in Washington and wait for the door to open." As for the policy of this country, it has become situational, and this is dangerous for Poland itself, which has fallen out with both the European Union and the United States, putting itself in an awkward position. "They seem to be with the Chinese. But if with the Chinese, then you have to hug the Belarusians. The Chinese will trade with you first of all (this is their interest) through Belarus. Ukraine is closed, it is more difficult through Istanbul, but Belarus - please. Russia, Belarus. Therefore, do not squabble with us. We must live in a good, real way. This is the policy that should be. Poland is not ready for this," the President said.

"The Poles have gone too far. Of all people, the Poles are our people, Slavs. They could live normally, trade, and develop. After all, we didn't kick out a single Pole from here when they introduced sanctions . And many work here. And let them work. They work normally and consider Belarusians normal people. But they have built such a policy. This is... These are opportunists," the President emphasized.

On Trump's Trade War and Its Impact on Pricesin Belarus
The head of state emphasized that he does not see a direct connection between the increase in duties by the United States and the prices of goods in Belarus. "Why? It will now be difficult for someone to sell products on the American market - the barrier is very high. Where? They will spread all over the world, including to us. And someone will compete with imported products on our market. Prices do not rise because of this. Therefore, it is not a fact that prices can rise because of this. In the United States of America - yes, in CHINA - yes. Maybe for some goods this will reach us too. But I somehow said in a peasant way: let's not rush, let's watch and wait," said Alexander Lukashenko.

The President is confident that the current situation should be taken calmly. "We will do what we do without haste. We have gone through and are going through such barriers, duties, and sanctions with Russia that there is nowhere else to go. Therefore, there is no need to worry too much about this. And whether this will lead to higher prices or not - we will see," he said.
"The rage in the US and around the world, trade wars... I feel calm somehow. We will not die because of this, that is for sure. We have enough knowledge and skills," the head of state added. "We will do everything so that our people can live normally."
Alexander Lukashenko emphasized that Belarus will remain committed to the fair pricing formula and is not going to deviate from it. For private business, this does not mean that they want to ruin it. This sector is important for the economy, and the state is interested in it, but it is necessary to work honestly, paying taxes and paying salaries to employees, and not fool around with prices.
