August 2, Brest. Exporting enterprises of the Brest region opened three new sales markets in January-May, BelTA learned from the department of foreign economic relations and investment activities of the economy committee of the regional executive committee.
New markets are opened in South America, North and East Africa. So, the first batch of glass putty was sent to Bolivia, milk powder to Libya , and electrical transformers to Uganda. In general, in January-May, goods produced in the Brest region were delivered to 94 countries. Exports grew by almost 23% and amounted to $1.2 billion with a positive balance of $495.2 million. The EAEU accounts for 67.7% of exports (including Russia - 62.9%), EU countries - 18.1%, other countries - 14.2%.
The enterprises of the region are confidently mastering the European market: in five months, exports of products to the EU countries increased by 47.3% and amounted to $174.5 million. Exports to Germany increased one and a half times. Deliveries to France, Spain, and Romania have been more than doubled. Almost 100% - to Bulgaria and Slovakia, more than 40% - to Lithuania and Latvia. Coal, furniture, tires, plastic parts and PVC profiles, soybean and rapeseed oil, clothes, toys, wood chips and pellets, lumber and timber products became the main commodity items of export to the countries of the European Union.
Exports to the countries of the "far arc" increased by 20% and amounted to $52.4 million. In particular, products delivered to the markets of African countries in January-May were 3.3 times more than in the same period last year (by $447.3 thousand .), to North and South America - by 46.1% ($4 million), to Australia and Oceania - by 48.7% ($471 thousand). Export deliveries to China (including Hong Kong and Taiwan) increased by 7.1% and amounted to $34.8 million.
The largest growth in exports is noted for cheeses and cottage cheese, canned fish and caviar, furniture, butter, gas and electric stoves, sausages and meat products, whey, rapeseed oil, timber, children's toys, and malt.
Traditionally, the Brest region is the leader in the country in terms of exports of agricultural products and foodstuffs. According to current data, the growth rate for January-May for this group of goods reached 113.9% and amounted to $647.6 million, which is almost 26% of the republican volume and 55% of the region's exports.
