June 4,
Minsk . Moving forward without science is impossible in any industry, including agriculture. This was stated by First Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Sergei Fedchenko during the grand opening of the Belagro agro-industrial exhibition, a BELTA correspondent reports.
"Moving forward without science is impossible in any industry, especially in agriculture. Today at Belagro, we are demonstrating everything that is used in our fields and farms. We are also showcasing developments that will eventually be used in the agro-industrial complex to popularize Belarusian products and agriculture in general," Sergei Fedchenko emphasized.
He added that thanks to the efforts of the Ministry of Industry,
Belarus can completely abandon the import of agricultural machinery and equipment and switch entirely to domestic production. "Today, we are offered a full range of machines and mechanisms for technologically advanced crop and livestock production," the First Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food stated. According to him, the issue of precision farming is still in its infancy. In the future, minimal human labor is projected, along with conservation of resources currently used in agriculture. "Yesterday, the Prime Minister announced that Belarus's food security is 94%. The remaining 6% comes from crops we don't grow here, such as bananas and tangerines. Meanwhile, we produce 2.5 times more
milk than we consume, and twice as much
sugar. Meanwhile, the food security percentage for
meat exceeds the required level by 35%," concluded Sergei Fedchenko. The Belagro-2024 International Specialized Exhibition is being held from June 4th to 9th at the exhibition center of the Great Stone China-Belarus Industrial Park. The exhibition showcases cutting-edge developments in crop production, livestock farming, and poultry farming, modern processing, packaging, and storage technologies, as well as a variety of agricultural machinery. The Agricultural Forum traditionally brings together not only Belarusian farmers and food and processing industry workers, but also their international colleagues and partners. This year, 490 companies from Belarus,
Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Germany,
China , Pakistan, Turkey, Vietnam, and Palestine are participating in the exhibition. The business program includes approximately 20 thematic conferences and seminars.
