July 12, Brest. In the Brest region in January-June, 1547 people suffered from tick bites, of which 49.5% were children and adolescents. This information is published on the website of the regional center of hygiene, epidemiology and public health, BelTA informs.

The number of victims of tick bites in the region decreased by almost 1.2 times: in January - June last year there were 1836 people, including 837 children (45.6%). "During entomological examinations of biotopes, the number of ticks for 6 months was 3.6 ind. per flag/km. Infection with borrelias of ticks removed from the human body was 41.8%, with tick-borne encephalitis pathogens - 0.16%. To reduce the number of carriers of tick-borne infections and To prevent the spread of infectious diseases, acaricidal treatments are being carried out in recreation areas, health camps, parks and gardens, farmsteads," the Center for Hygiene, Epidemiology and Public Health said.

Experts noticed that the tick can stick almost everywhere: in the forest, pasture, country house, river bank, and even within the city or village. In the Brest region, infection with tick-borne encephalitis occurs more often when visiting active foci. Such species are recorded in the territories of Belovezhskaya and Ruzhanskaya Pushchas, in separate parts of the Maloritsky, Berezovsky, Ivatsevichy, Brest, Zhabinkovsky, Kobrinsky, Baranovichi and Lyakhovichi regions. Infection is also possible with the use of raw goat's milk, rarely cow's.

To reduce the risk of tick attacks, it is recommended to wear light-colored closed clothing, wear rubber boots or boots, cover your head with a scarf, cap or hood. To scare away bloodsuckers, it is worth using repellents.
