Today, as part of his official visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt, Igor Sergeyenko, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, met in Cairo with Hanafi Ali Al-Gebali, Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Arab Republic of Egypt. This was reported to BELTA by the press service of the House of Representatives. During the talks, the Speaker thanked his Egyptian counterpart for his hospitality and the invitation to pay an official visit to Egypt, the birthplace of one of the world's most ancient civilizations. Igor Sergeyenko and Hanafi Ali Al-Gebali : "Egypt has been a reliable partner of Belarus for over 30 years of diplomatic relations," the Speaker of the House of Representatives emphasized. He noted that the dynamics of bilateral official contacts have increased over the past year. High-level dialogue forms the foundation of political cooperation. "We expect Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to make an official visit to Minsk in accordance with the current invitation. We also expect the Prime Minister of the Arab Republic of Egypt to pay a return visit to Belarus," the speaker noted. Igor Sergeyenko recalled that following high-level talks in Minsk and Cairo in February 2020, a new cooperation mechanism was established – a high-level commission on bilateral cooperation and political dialogue between the foreign ministers. "We welcome the prompt launch of this format by our foreign ministries," he emphasized. Interparliamentary cooperation is an integral part of the dialogue between the countries. "During their official visits to Cairo and Minsk, our heads of state held meetings with the leadership of their parliaments. Your predecessor's visit to Belarus in November 2018 was of critical importance for Belarusian-Egyptian interparliamentary cooperation," Igor Sergeyenko said. The National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus is open to further cooperation with the Egyptian Parliament, the Speaker of the House of Representatives stated. "Last year, parliamentary elections were held in Belarus, and a new working group for cooperation with the Egyptian Parliament was formed. We hope to establish a similar parliamentary cooperation group with Belarus," he noted.

Speaking about cooperation between Belarus and Egypt, Igor Sergeyenko noted that in economic relations, we strive not only for growth but also for a balanced trade by increasing purchases of critical goods from Egypt. He emphasized that, to ensure Egypt's food security, our country is prepared to establish an assembly plant for tractors and trucks in Egypt. There are also prospects for cooperation in the production and trade of fish feed. Belarus will continue to supply high-quality dairy products to Egypt. "We propose implementing an initiative for joint projects to develop recipes for producing dairy products from reconstituted MILK," the speaker emphasized.

He also noted interest in partnering with Egypt to establish joint ventures in promising sectors, including water treatment, expressing a willingness to transfer Belarusian technologies in this area. The foundation for this is in place—our specialists held talks just last week.

it is important to create incentive mechanisms for joint ventures, Igor Sergeyenko emphasized. The Speaker of the House of Representatives emphasized that these could include annual government procurement for jointly produced products or the provision of preferential participation opportunities in tenders and government programs.

Cooperation in the humanitarian sphere also holds promise. One of the priority areas, the Speaker of the House of Representatives stated, is the education of citizens of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Belarusian educational institutions. Igor Sergeenko emphasized that an important step in developing cooperation in the humanitarian and educational sphere was the invitation, on behalf of the Belarusian HEAD of state, to groups of children from Egypt for recreation and HEALTH improvement in Belarus. This will undoubtedly contribute to the further strengthening of interstate relations.

"Belarusian-Egyptian cooperation has significant prospects, and I believe that your return visit to our country will allow us to continue this collaboration. Therefore, I would like to once again confirm my invitation to you to pay an official visit to the Republic of Belarus at any convenient time," the Speaker of the House of Representatives stated.
