June 2, Minsk. Sincere and trusting relations have developed between Belarus and Pakistan, Chairman of the House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko said during a meeting with Pakistani Ambassador to Belarus Sajjad Haider Khan, BelTA has learned.
“I would like to note that relations between the Republic of Belarus and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan are sincere and trusting. As you know, in 2017 I visited your country at the head of a parliamentary delegation. Minister, a number of ministers. We have developed specific projects, action programs, signed agreements on inter-parliamentary cooperation. Currently, we have created working groups on parliamentary cooperation," said Vladimir Andreichenko.
According to him, the countries have moved forward on a number of agreements. "A 45-ton Belarusian BelAZ has started work in your country. Supplies of powdered milk to your country, baby food have begun. We are pleased that today a business project is being considered to organize an assembly production of Belarusian tractors in the Punjab province. A number of other issues have been resolved. Most importantly, that our trade turnover in 2020 amounted to $52 million," the speaker noted. "Of course, not all projects have been implemented. We then held, I think, a wonderful business forum on the development of cooperation in the field of agriculture. We agreed to organize an enterprise for the processing of Belarusian poultry , for the production of baby food from Belarusian raw materials. But due to a number of objective and subjective reasons, we were not able to sell everything. But I think
Vladimir Andreichenko stressed that one of Pakistan's priorities is the development of agriculture. "And in accordance with the agreement between the ministries of agriculture of Belarus and Pakistan, this year or early next year we should have a business forum. And we think it would be good if this business forum was timed to coincide with the visit of the speaker of the National Assembly of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the Republic of Belarus. We sent the corresponding invitation in January last year," he said.A solid legal base has been created between Belarus and Pakistan. "These are about 80 interstate, intergovernmental, interdepartmental documents. Relevant commissions on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation have been created. That is, we have every reason to work more actively. And I think that parliamentarians should take these issues into account to control. And, most importantly, to assist our business circles in increasing the trade turnover between our countries. Because in terms of political relations, we have no questions and I think that the foundation of our development should be an increase in mutual trade turnover, - - I want to say that we support the initiative of the Pakistani side to hold a video conference of the heads of our profile commissions, where we will discuss specific issues of trade and economic cooperation. This month, I think it can be done."
As the ambassador added, this meeting in the parliament is a great honor for him. "I am very proud that there are good relations between the two countries in all areas. The heads of the two states are on good terms, there is no misunderstanding between our countries. I believe that this contributes to the development of good relations in the future," Sajjad Hyder Khan stated. Those 80 agreements that have been signed over the past 5-6 years are a good foundation for the development of even more favorable relations in the future. In the past six months that I have been in Belarus, I have made every effort to move forward the agreements, which we have already signed.
