“The testing laboratory of the Sverdlovsk reference center of ROSSELKHOZNADZOR has identified a dangerous pathogen in a sample of homemade minced MEAT made by one of the meat processing enterprises in Yekaterinburg,” the press service of the Rosselkhoznadzor Administration for the Sverdlovsk Region said. “Microbiological studies have shown that Listeria monocytogenes is present in minced meat.”
The reference center sent the results of the research to the customer so that the meat processing plant could take emergency measures to ensure the safety of its products.
The Rosselkhoznadzor noted that the pathogen can enter the enterprise with packaging material, with raw materials from a sick animal, as well as from the hands of staff - not disinfected or poorly washed. People can become infected with listeriosis by eating contaminated foods - meat, MILK, and others.
Listeria monocytogenes is a group III bacterial pathogen that causes the infectious disease listeriosis in humans. The disease leads to damage to the reproductive organs and the central NERVOUS SYSTEM.
