The main difference of the new VGBK2 virus is its ability to infect both rabbits and hares, which makes it especially dangerous. The developed vaccine, called "VNIIZG-VaksiGem-Bi", activates the immune response to both types of the virus within 12-14 days after a single administration, and provides protection for at least 12 months. Immunization of rabbits begins at 30 days of age, and in unfavorable epizootic conditions, revaccination is recommended three weeks after the first vaccination. Revaccination should be carried out annually in the future.

This vaccine is the first in the line of preparations of the FGBU "ARRIAH" developed specifically for rabbits. Viral hemorrhagic disease of rabbits is an acute infectious disease affecting the internal organs of animals, primarily the liver and lungs, and is characterized by a rapid course of the disease and high mortality.
