The purpose of the agreement will be to stimulate trade and investment by addressing a wide range of issues such as: market access for goods, services, investment and public procurement; fast and effective sanitary and phytosanitary procedures; protecting intellectual property rights, including geographical indications, and removing barriers to digital trade and trade in energy and raw materials. Sustainability will also be at the heart of this agreement with robust and binding trade and sustainable development (TSD) rules. They will be in line with the TSD Review Board's June 2022 message, supporting a high level of protection for workers' rights, the environment and the achievement of ambitious climate targets.

The EU and Thailand are determined to make quick progress in negotiations and intend to hold a first substantive round of negotiations in the coming months.
