- The main secret of immunity is that it is a whole system. It is much more complicated than, say, cardiovascular, and works even at the cell level, - explains Vlada Runtso, an intern of the anti-epidemic department of the Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology of the Leninsky District of MINSK.
Immune cells mature in central and peripheral organs: bone marrow, thymus, tonsils, small intestinal lymphoid plaques, lymphoid nodules, spleen, and lymph nodes. Cells circulate through the circulatory and lymphatic systems. And some even penetrate the tissues.
- The immune system is formed in the womb, but a person's lifestyle also plays a significant role in its work. We cannot do anything with heredity, but it is in our power to strengthen immunity, - Vlada Runtso is sure.
The first tip is to quit smoking if you still smoke.
- In the mouth of a smoker there is a focus of inflammation, which distracts the immune system. Tobacco smoke negatively affects all organs and tissues. First of all, the cardiovascular system suffers and the normal immune response is disrupted. Carcinogens, poisonous tar of tobacco smoke suppress HEALTH, a person becomes susceptible to illness, the DOCTOR notes.
The doctor also recommends limiting ALCOHOL consumption, which also reduces the immune response, increasing the risk of infectious and inflammatory diseases, especially from the respiratory system.
- It is very important to get enough sleep. This is probably the easiest way to boost immunity. The body lives in the so-called circadian (24-hour) rhythm: at different times of the day, the activity of the organs and the immune system changes. Some of its cells are at the ready when a person is awake, active and more likely to encounter a pathogen. Others reach their peak activity during sleep, for example, building adaptive immunity. With a lack of sleep, this process slows down and is disrupted, says the physician.
Helps boost immunity and sports. Even simple exercises and walks improve the functioning of the cardiovascular system, normalize blood flow to organs and tissues, improve blood circulation, which contributes to the normal movement of immune system cells throughout the body.
- Another important rule is not to be nervous. This will help, if not increase immunity, then at least save it. Strong emotional stress leads to a change in hormone levels and endangers the immune system. Try to reduce emotional stress and be sure to rest, - Vlada Runtso draws attention.
