On February 23, at 21:45, on the 20th km of the Kurenets - Lyuban - Shemetovo highway near the agricultural town of Izha, Vileika district, a 36-year-old lawless man driving an Audi hit a 40-year-old local resident. The woman followed the roadway in the opposite direction and led a bicycle in her hands. The pedestrian died at the scene as a result of the collision.

The driver fled the scene, but was identified and detained in hot pursuit by the operatives of the Vileika District Department of Internal Affairs. Police officers found the car at the place of residence of the person involved in the plot. It is known that earlier he was brought to criminal responsibility for theft, and also repeatedly - to administrative responsibility for driving a vehicle while intoxicated by a person who does not have the right to drive. At the time of the arrest, the suspect also showed signs of drinking alcohol.

Investigators have opened a criminal case against a 36-year-old man.
