May 12, Grodno. In the Oshmyany district, a drunken man brutally beat a disabled mother, BelTA learned from the USC in the Grodno region.

"A 60-year-old resident of the Oshmyany region was taken to the regional hospital in a coma with numerous bodily injuries. it was preliminary established that a conflict arose between the woman and her 34-year-old son on the basis of domestic disagreements, during which the suspect beat the woman. At the moment the pensioner is still in intensive care. Medics are fighting for her life and HEALTH," the department said.

The investigator, with the involvement of a specialist from the UGKSE for the Grodno region, conducted an inspection of the scene, appointed a number of expert studies, interrogated the suspect and witnesses.

It was found that at the time of the crime, the man was intoxicated . He also previously repeatedly brought to criminal responsibility, including for causing death by negligence. The local resident spent almost 2 years in places of deprivation of liberty. His mother is disabled and does not move independently.

The Oshmyany regional department of the Investigative Committee initiated a criminal case against the man under clause 2, part 2, article 147 (intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm against a person in a helpless state) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus. The suspect has been arrested and investigations are underway. Currently, the issue of applying to him a preventive measure in the form of detention is being decided.

The investigation is ongoing.
