
May 28, MINSK . In the Gomel region, a man on a dare tried to swim across the lake and drowned. This was reported to BelTA in the regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations .
The tragedy occurred on May 27 in the workers' settlement Bolshevik on Pervomaiskaya street. A message about a man drowning in a pond was received by rescuers at 12.24.it turned out that on the eve of his death, a man born in 1983 was relaxing with friends on the lake. The meeting took place with the drinking of ALCOHOL. At some point, the man decided to swim across the lake on a dare, although a sign was installed here prohibiting swimming.
After a while, he disappeared under water, and frightened friends called the Ministry of Emergencies. Arriving rescuers got the man and handed over to the doctors. Despite all the resuscitation measures, which lasted almost 40 minutes, it was not possible to save him.
The regional OSVOD noted that there is an official beach near the site of the tragedy, where lifeguards are on duty and swimming is allowed. "More than 65% of deaths on the water occur due to swimming while intoxicated and almost 100% - in places prohibited for swimming," the rescuers emphasized.
