Investigative Committee: Criminal case opened against driver who caused fatal accident in Vitebsk region

According to the investigation, on the night of November 9, the 30-year-old driver was in a state ofA drunk driver in a VAZ car was giving a ride to a group of five people. Near the agro-town of Zamostochye, he lost control and drove into a ditch, where the car overturned. As a result of the accident, a 14-year-old teenager died from his injuries. The driver and four other passengers (13, 15, 16 and 18 years old) were hospitalized with various injuries.


An investigative task force was working at the scene. The Vitebsk District Department of the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under Part 4 of Article 317 (violation of traffic rules by a person driving a vehicle while intoxicated, resulting in the death of a person through negligence) of the Criminal Code of Belarus.
