Serial bike thief detained in Vitebsk

December 6, Vitebsk. In Vitebsk, a serial bicycle thief was detained, who is suspected of stealing at least 10 wheeled vehicles. This was reported to a BelTA correspondent in the information and public relations department of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.

Investigators have identified the alleged thief. it turned out to be a 49-year-old man who was not working and had no previous convictions. The suspect was detained by officers of the criminal investigation department of the Oktyabrsky District Department of Internal Affairs of Vitebsk.

As it turned out later, the man used a small hacksaw to steal the bikes. With it, he cut the cables locked with locks, and operated mainly not far from his home: in the area of ​​\u200b\u200bSmolenskaya, Pravda, Chkalov and Moskovsky Prospekt streets. At first, the cyclist made thefts only near residential buildings, and later he became bolder and began to pay attention to vehicles parked near shops. Since the man does not understand brands of bicycles, he took those that seemed newer.

The Vitebsk resident handed over the stolen things to various pawnshops at a completely democratic price. He spent the money for them on food and alcoholic beverages.

The police managed to return some of the stolen bicycles to their owners, the police department said. Now operatives are checking the man's involvement in the commission of other similar facts.

The suspect has been detained. The Vitebsk City Department of the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case against him.
