Details of a fatal accident in Khotimsk: he was so drunk that he did not remember how he hit a man

April 4, Mogilev. The Investigation Department of the USC for the Mogilev region completed the investigation of a criminal case on an accident, which resulted in the death of a pedestrian. BelTA was informed about this by Tatyana Starosotnikova, official representative of the USC in the Mogilev region.

On the afternoon of November 23, 2021, in the urban village of Khotimsk, on the side of the road near her house, a local resident found a young man lying unconscious on the ground. The woman called an ambulance and the police: it was obvious that he had been hit by a car. The victim was hospitalized, but he died a few days later.

As part of the measures to establish the driver who fled the scene of a traffic accident, on the same day a car with damage typical for an accident was found, and its owner, a 49-year-old resident of the Smolensk region, was identified. At the moment of detention the man was in a condition of strong alcoholic intoxication . According to the results of a medical examination, ethyl ALCOHOL was found in his blood at a concentration of 3.15 ppm.

During the investigation, the chronology of that day was established: a 49-year-old man, driving his cohabitant to work, met a friend. Morning time did not become an obstacle in order to celebrate the meeting: the men drank alcohol, and then each went about their business.

The presence of a good dose of alcohol in the body did not stop the driver from getting behind the wheel of his car. At about 13.00, moving in a Lada Largus car along a dirt road along Leninskaya St., at a T-shaped intersection with Sportivnaya St., a man drove into the oncoming lane, where he hit a 21-year-old local resident walking along the roadway. As a result of the accident, the young man was seriously injured. The driver left. He left his vehicle under the fence of a friend's house, and he went on to drink alcohol.

When studying the personality of the person involved, it was established that earlier the man in Belarus was not brought to criminal responsibility. The complex of investigative and procedural actions in the criminal case has been completed. The investigator interrogated the accused and witnesses, conducted a complex of forensic examinations, the conclusions of which were studied and attached to the materials of the criminal case. During the interrogation, the man explained that he did not remember the events of that day, as well as about the accident and the examination.

The actions of a 49-year-old man are qualified under part 4 of article 317 (violation of traffic rules by a person driving a vehicle while intoxicated, resulting in the death of a person by negligence) and part 3 of article 159 (knowingly leaving in danger, committed by a person which by negligence itself put the victim in a life-threatening condition) of the Criminal Code. A measure of restraint in the form of detention was applied to him.

The investigation of the criminal case has been completed, the materials have been handed over to the prosecutor for sending to the COURT.
