The first among the regions of the Volga Federal District to start harvesting , the Saratov region continues to lead among the subjects of the district both in terms of the pace of work and threshing. Roman Kovalsky, Deputy Chairman of the Regional Government, Minister of Agriculture of the Region, spoke about this today at a meeting of the Regional Government.
Despite the July precipitation, which made it difficult to thresh winter crops, the pace of the 2023 harvesting campaign is higher than last year. To date, 830 thousand hectares of grain and leguminous crops have been threshed, which is 35% of the plan, the gross harvest is 2 million 250 thousand tons, with an average yield of 27.2 q/ha. Threshing per day reaches 200 thousand tons.
The largest areas were harvested in the regions of the Left Bank: Rivne and Engelssky - 60% or more, Ivanteevsky, Pugachevsky, St. Petersburg and Krasnokutsky - 50% or more. Over 100,000 tons of grain were harvested by agricultural producers of eight districts - Pugachevsky, Ershovsky, Engelssky, Samoilovsky, Kalininsky, Balashovsky, Fedorovsky and Krasnokutsky. In terms of yield among the right-bank districts, the Balashovskiy MD is the leader (45.5 centners per hectare), among the left-bank regions - the Marksovsky MR (31.1 centners per hectare).
In the organized sector of the Engels, Rovno, Marksovsky and Krasnokutsky districts, 3.5 thousand tons of early vegetable crops were collected.
“In favorable weather conditions, the fodder base is being formed to provide all types of feed for the livestock industry in the upcoming winter,” Roman Kovalsky noted, dwelling on the forage harvesting campaign.
The HEAD of the agrarian department said that since the beginning of haymaking, 182 thousand tons of hay (75% of the need), 67 thousand tons of haylage (124%) and 65 thousand tons of straw (25%) have been harvested in agricultural enterprises and peasant farms. 18 districts are provided with hay in full demand, the largest volume - more than 100% - is harvested in Kalininsky, Samoilovsky, Balashovsky, Petrovsky, Voskresensky, Turkovsky and Pitersky districts. Harvesting of haylage was completed by agricultural producers of Rtishchevsky, Kalininsky, Novoburassky, Bazarno-Karabulaksky, Marksovsky and Engelssky municipal districts.
In general, Roman Kovalsky noted, seasonal field work is carried out regularly, for their high-quality implementation and storage of grain from the 2023 harvest, agricultural producers of the region are provided with all the necessary resources. The harvesting campaign will involve about 6.5 thousand grain harvesters, 3.2 thousand windrowers, 950 mechtoks and 6.6 thousand trucks. In total, 21 thousand people will be involved in the work, including machine operators - 13.5 thousand people. Staffing is 100%. For the storage of the 2023 harvest, there are free capacities of more than 4 million tons.
Harvest plans are optimistic. “Following the results of the year, the forecasts for grain production are 5 million tons (including 3.3 million tons from the winter wedge), sunflower – 1.95 million tons, potatoes and vegetables and melons – more than 500 thousand tons,” said the Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Agriculture of the region Roman Kovalsky.
