“The sanctions of the Western world are an impetus to the development of domestic industries. This is confirmed by the experience of the enterprises of the agro-industrial complex of our republic," said Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Chuvash Republic - Minister of Agriculture Sergei Artamonov following a working trip to the Oldeevskaya agricultural company.
In the greenhouse complex of the agricultural firm, the Deputy Prime Minister, together with the director of the All-Russian Research Institute of Phytopathology Alexei Glinushkin and colleagues, got acquainted with the system of organizing work on biological plant protection.
Chairman of the Board of Directors of the enterprise Evgenia Belikova told the guests that since 1982 the agricultural company has been producing beneficial insects for internal use. Beneficial insects are successfully bred here to combat aphids, whiteflies, spider mites, cucumber mosquitoes, and thrips. The enterprise has qualified specialists, source material for breeding more than 10 species of entomophages to protect greenhouse crops, orchards, and berry fields.
“Biological protection of plants to obtain environmentally friendly agricultural products is almost the only possible way to obtain products and preserve land fertility. This is a modern way of protecting plants in greenhouses, gardens, and field crops. Chemical protection is fraught with suppression of the development of the main crop, a decrease in the effect of protection due to the development of pest resistance to drugs,” Evgenia Alekseevna is convinced.
Greenhouse farms are still largely dependent on European suppliers of seeds, plant protection products, soluble fertilizers, spare parts for greenhouse equipment. The production of biological protection agents for greenhouse plants is also a big problem, Alexey Glinushkin noted.
“If there was support, the agricultural company could quickly develop the production of entomophages in volumes that take into account the needs of regional greenhouses. After all, the use of the biological method almost completely eliminates the use of pesticides that are imported from abroad,” Evgenia Belikova emphasized.
