Agricultural producers of the Tambov region exceeded the plan for the purchase of fertilizers by 50%

According to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Tambov Region, agricultural producers exceeded the plan for the purchase of mineral fertilizers in January-February 2023 by 50%.
First of all, farmers buy ammonium nitrate for spring work. To date, 69 thousand tons have been purchased.
This year, farmers plan to purchase 120,000 tons of mineral fertilizers for spring field work. For the whole of 2023, almost 187 thousand tons of mineral fertilizers will be purchased.
The Ministry of Agriculture of the Tambov Region, together with agrochemical services, calculated the region's scientifically based need for mineral fertilizers - 686 thousand tons per year, based on the available sown area of ​​1.8 million hectares.
The increase in the use of fertilizers will mainly occur at the expense of enterprises that do not use mineral fertilizers, as well as those that use fertilizers with low doses.
“The planned need for fertilizers in the period of preparation for the spring sowing campaign in the region will be completely closed. Every year, Tambov farmers increase the application of mineral fertilizers to the soil. This allows us to achieve a high yield of agricultural crops,” said the HEAD of the region Maxim Egorov.
