Specialists from the regional Ministry of Agriculture and Trade held off-site meetings in the region's farms dedicated to modern technologies for cultivating potatoes and vegetable crops in the current year's vegetation conditions.
The participants in the events included heads of large agricultural enterprises, farms, specialists from companies supplying fertilizers and plant protection products, as well as industry experts in crop production.
"Annual assessment of new potato varieties and innovative plant care techniques allows us to significantly improve the quality of the harvest . Today, new products in plant breeding and plant protection products are constantly appearing, affecting the final result of our farmers' work. it is important to quickly adapt to changes in environmental conditions and ensure high field productivity," noted Ekaterina Slivkina, Deputy DIRECTOR of the Agriculture Department of the industry ministry.
As part of the meetings, field studies of the condition of plantings were conducted, where the growth characteristics of plants and possible risks caused by unfavorable weather conditions, the spread of insect pests and crop diseases were assessed. The experts gave specific recommendations to farms on improving existing technological processes, choosing the best protective products and implementing a biological approach to open-ground farming.
Following the consultations, many farms received individual advice from specialists on protecting potato and vegetable crops from the most likely threats and compiled adjusted technological maps for plant protection and fertilizing. It is worth noting that, with the assistance of the Governor and the Government of the region, a large-scale state program is being implemented in the region, which includes more than 40 measures to support farmers in a variety of areas. Thus, in terms of plant growing, producers can compensate for the costs of purchasing elite potato seeds, forage grass seeds, specialized machinery and equipment, carrying out melioration work, reimburse the purchase and application of mineral and organic fertilizers, etc.
All participants agreed that such meetings are necessary and effective, since they contribute to raising the general awareness of farmers, timely identification of problems and prompt decision-making aimed at increasing the volume of products, improving their quality and competitiveness. They also help to establish effective interactions between farmers and resource suppliers, promoting sustainable development of the agricultural sector throughout the region.
