Russian organic products will be presented for the first time at an international exhibition in China

The 6th international exhibition of imported goods and services, China International Import Expo (CIIE), will be held on November 5-10, 2023 at the modern exhibition center in Shanghai ( China ). Organizers: Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China and the People's Government of Shanghai. More than 400,000 professional visitors visit the exhibition every year.
The idea to hold the exhibition was born at the Belt and Road International Cooperation Forum in 2017. Chinese leader Xi Jinping has proposed holding an international exhibition of imported goods in Shanghai. Last year, more than 1,000 companies from 104 countries presented their products in the food and agricultural products section.
Russian organic productswill appear at the exhibition for the first time. The usual markets of the EU and the USA are losing relevance for exporters; our manufacturers need to look for buyers in other countries. Let us recall that in the State Strategy for the Development of Organic Agriculture until 2030, China is named a priority market.
China has become a world leader in the growth of organic agricultural land; it is 13% more than a year earlier. A total of 319,000 hectares are certified for organic production in China. In Russia this figure is about 600,000 hectares.
World market, according to FiBL data published this year, reached almost 125 billion euros (the statistics are “late” by two years, collected reflect 2021). China is one of the world's four largest markets for organic products. Thus, sales of organic products in the USA amounted to 48.6 billion euros, in Germany 15.9 billion euros, in France 12.7 billion euros, in China 11.3 billion euros.
The idea to make a stand with Russian organics came from Pavel Komin, head of the Far Eastern Organic Union. In collaboration with the Union of Organic Farming and Roskachestvo, work is underway to fill the stand.
“I express my deep gratitude to the Union of Organic Farming and Roskachestvo, who are helping us organize this stand in China. We are glad that the members of the Union responded to our proposal, organized themselves in a short time and sent us samples of their products. We hope that our products will be among the most popular and will arouse some interest. Our goal is to establish business contacts with Chinese buyers to enter their market. Let’s evaluate the demand and interest in our organic products,” says Pavel, Komin, head of the Far Eastern Organic Union.
Participants of the Union of Organic Farming will demonstrate more than 70 types of products at the CIIE exhibition. These are organic grains and legumes, flour , cereals, honey, wine , canned vegetables, juices,oil _ Most of the products are certified according to the Russian standard; products produced in Russia, but certified according to international organic standards, will also be presented.
“We consider working with interested buyers and direct negotiations with buyers at one of the leading state exhibitions of imported goods in China the most productive format. This is a closed market that is not easy to enter. Systematic work is required not only in terms of contracts, but also marketing support for the entry into the market of Russian organic products that are new to the Chinese. There is a lot of work ahead to build knowledge and trust in our organics,” says Sergei Korshunov, Chairman of the Board of the Union of Organic Farming.
