150,000 tons of vegetables have been harvested in the Saratov region since the beginning of the harvesting campaign

To date, according to the operational data of the regional Ministry of Agriculture, 7.5 thousand hectares of open ground vegetables have been harvested in farms of all categories of ownership, which is 50% of the plan. 150.3 thousand tons of vegetable products were harvested with an average yield of 199.8 q/ha.
The gross harvest of potatoes is 118.7 thousand tons with a yield of 158 q/ha. 7.5 thousand hectares or 92% of the plan have been excavated.
Along with this, greenhouse enterprises have harvested 27,456 thousand tons of greenhouse vegetables since the beginning of the year, of which 19,694 thousand tons of cucumbers and 7,624 thousand tons of tomatoes.
As the HEAD of the regional Ministry of Agriculture Roman Kovalsky said, the number of fruit and vegetable stores in the region will be increased in the next few years.
“Currently, 34 agricultural producers of the region have fruit, potato and vegetable storage facilities with a total capacity of
96.18 thousand tons of one-time storage. In the period from 2022 to 2024, five agricultural producers plan to put into operation storage facilities with a total capacity of 2.8 thousand tons of one-time storage. Thanks to this, agricultural producers will have an additional opportunity to preserve vegetables and fruits and sell them at the best price,” the head of the sectoral department specified.
