Trump called on Russia for an immediate ceasefire after the imposition of sanctions.

The United States is calling on Russia to immediately cease fire following the imposition of sanctions against Rosneft and Lukoil. US President Donald Trump wrote this on his social media account, Truth Social.

"The US Treasury Department is imposing sanctions on major Russian oil companies and calling on Moscow to immediately agree to a ceasefire," the post said.

During a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, responding to a question about sanctions, Trump said: "I thought there was still time. We've been waiting a very long time."

On the night of October 22-23, the US Treasury Department announced the introduction of additional sanctions against two of Russia's largest oil companies due to "Russia's lack of serious interest in the peace process."

The restrictions apply to subsidiaries of Lukoil and Rosneft located in Russia. The ministry's list includes 34 subsidiaries. "All property and property interests of the specified or blocked persons described above, located in the United States or owned or controlled by U.S. persons, are blocked," the ministry stated.

Russia considers Western sanctions illegal. Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov stated that the Russian economy "operates under a huge number of restrictions," and therefore has already developed a "certain immunity" to them.
