37 aircraft of foreign subsidiaries of the State Transport Leasing Company (GTLK) located abroad can be sold, Roman Lyadov, CEO of GTLK Europe, said in an interview with the Vedomosti newspaper.

According to Lyadov, the three foreign structures of STLC currently own 74 aircraft. Of these, 37 are located in RUSSIA and continue to be operated by Russian airlines. Another 37 aircraft are "partially blocked" abroad, 90% of them are in Europe. The majority are Boeing 777 and 737, among the non-operating aircraft there are also Airbus 321, 320 and 319, he said.

“Unoperated aircraft can be sold. We are considering several scenarios, including this one. First of all, we proceed from the fact that the asset must maintain its value and generate income. Aircraft, firstly, are not all, and secondly, they are in demand,” said Lyadov.

Of the 37 non-operating liners, four are under financial leasing (with the right to buy from the airline), while the rest have signed operating lease agreements. Negotiations are underway on the sale of aircraft with three leasing companies, the deal may take several months to complete, Lyadov added.

“Today we are in dialogue with all lessees both in terms of air fleet and sea vessels, there is a road map for each asset. We already have positive cases on the purchase of sea vessels after the imposition of sanctions with the receipt of all necessary licenses,” concluded the CEO of GTLK Europe.

At the end of February, the European Union imposed a ban on the sale of aircraft, spare parts and equipment to Russian airlines. In this regard, the largest foreign aircraft manufacturers Boeing and Airbus have stopped technical support for Russian air carriers. At that time, more than 80% of aircraft in Russia were imported.

In addition, due to restrictions, foreign companies began to demand from domestic air carriers the return of leased aircraft. For this reason, airlines suspended flights abroad - aircraft could be arrested there. The Federal Air Transport Agency reported that leasing agreements were terminated unilaterally. In response, the Russian authorities allowed forcibly, without the permission of the owners, to re-register these aircraft in Russia.

In December, Kommersant, citing the HEAD of the Bermuda Department of Civil Aviation (BCAA) Thomas Dunstan, reported that six months after the imposition of sanctions, Russian airlines deregistered in the Bermuda register and re-registered 201 foreign-made aircraft in Russia. According to him, last year, as of March 13, there were 721 aircraft operated by Russian airlines in the register, while at the beginning of December - 520.
