35 people will be subject to EU sanctions , including judges, officials and employees of the colonies, and two legal entities Josep Borrell

The EU authorities are planning to expand sanctions against RUSSIA due to the death of Alexei Navalny in the Polar Wolf colony in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, BLOOMBERG reports , citing the document.

The measures will affect 35 people, including Russian officials, judges, as well as employees of IK-3 (Polar Wolf) and IK-6 in the Vladimir region, where Navalny was located before his transfer to the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. Two legal entities will also be subject to sanctions.

The FSIN department for the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug reported Navalny’s death in the colony on February 16. As the department stated, the oppositionist became ill during a walk and lost consciousness. Doctors tried to revive him for more than half an hour, but were unable to. The medical certificate, which Navalny's mother Lyudmila showed on February 22, stated that Navalny died of natural causes. On March 1, Navalny was buried at the Borisov Cemetery in Moscow.

Earlier, the usa , Great Britain , CANADA , and Australia announced sanctions due to the death of the oppositionist . Moscow considers the measures illegal.

Western states blamed the Russian authorities for what happened ; the Kremlin called these statements “absolutely boorish” and unacceptable. The Russian Foreign Ministry called the G7's calls to clarify the circumstances of Navalny's death an attempt to interfere in the country's internal affairs. Presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said on February 19 that an investigation is underway and “all necessary actions are being taken.”
