Ankara needs to introduce stricter measures against tourists from RUSSIA amid an increase in the number of CORONAVIRUS infections in Turkey, the head of the Turkish Union of Infectious Diseases Mehmet Ceyhan said on Twitter. The messages in his account are also referenced by the Yenicag newspaper.
“We cannot calculate the number of active cases [of the disease] as the total number of infections and deaths per day is no longer reported. However, I think that the figure has again exceeded 100,000. In other words, there are more than a million infected people walking among us, and they are very contagious,” Ceyhan wrote.
In his opinion, the way out of this situation lies in a two-sided approach: on the one hand, citizens must be vaccinated, on the other hand, the government must introduce some restrictions, and people must comply with them, including wearing masks and distancing.
“Tourists arriving from Russia should be subject to stricter measures. Otherwise, it will not be possible to stop the growth of cases of the disease, ”said the head of the Union of Infectious Diseases.
