From January 8, a ban on wearing cloth masks comes into force in Romania, violators will be fined up to 2.5 thousand Romanian lei ($574.37), Interior Minister Lucian Bode said in an interview with Digi24.
According to the decision of the National Committee for Emergency Situations, Romanian residents will be able to visit public places only in surgical masks and FFP2 respirators that completely cover the nose and mouth.
The rule will not apply to children under five years of age, people who are alone in the room, TV presenters and their guests while maintaining a distance of 3 m. While maintaining the distance, they will not be forced to wear the “correct” masks during worship services, public speaking and sports.
In France, children from the age of six were required to wear masks amid rising infections
According to Bode, the restrictions on mask selection are not excessive. This is necessary in the context of the rapid spread of the "omicron". Compliance with the law on masks will be checked by police and gendarmes.
