Rostov will not be able to implement a project to upgrade the tram network and build a new roadbed. Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Russian Federation Marat Khusnullin spoke about this at a meeting with President Vladimir Putin.

“In the Rostov region, there was a project for the construction of public transport, but today trams cannot be delivered within these terms due to imported components. Then they propose to complete the detour of Rostov, which is just as serious an anti-crisis measure. I ask you to support them, ”TASS quotes the vice-premier.

Previously, it was assumed that funds from an infrastructure loan would be used to upgrade the tram network in Rostov. Its size exceeded 15 billion rubles.

The project included the construction of more than 76.8 km of modern tram tracks in the Don capital, the reconstruction of 46 km of the existing network, the purchase of rolling stock - 98 tram cars, and the installation of new stopping points.

The city authorities hoped that the tram service would connect the center of Rostov with new residential areas - Leventsovsky, Verkhny Temernik, Suvorovsky, Veresaevo, as well as with the territories of future complex development on the left bank of the Don and near the old airport.
