In St. Petersburg, nearly 70 school classes have been closed for quarantine , the city's education committee told Fontanka.

As of March 18, education has been suspended in 68 school classes and 31 kindergarten groups. The quarantine was imposed due to a rise in the number of cases.covid-19 , acute respiratory viral infections and influenza.

According to Rospotrebnadzor, 48,601 cases of influenza, acute respiratory viral infections, and coronavirus were registered in St. Petersburg from March 10 to 16. The agency noted that influenza and acute respiratory viral infection rates decreased by 4.2% compared to the previous week. The agency noted that children aged three to six remain the most vulnerable group, with the highest incidence of the disease.

In February 2025, 56 school classes and 19 kindergarten groups were already quarantined in St. Petersburg.
