Perm game developers spoke about the difficulties due to restrictions

For the Perm developers of computer games of the Mortyoshka studio, the abolition of monetization has become a serious problem. There are no analogues of the Steam platform in Russia, and turning off profits from content sales has complicated the process of its creation. Also, after disabling payment systems, it became difficult to pay for third-party services, which also added difficulties to the workflow. According to the founder of the studio, Vladimir Beletsky, no sanctions have been imposed on the domestic segment of game development, but what we have now is already a serious limitation.

“As far as I know, there was no direct ban on hosting Russian games on foreign venues. We have not noticed any negative to the studio or our games so far. We hope that there will be no restrictions on us and other Russian developers. Although the fact that games are not sold in Russia is already a limitation for us, ”Vladimir Beletsky, founder of the Mortyoshka studio, told RBC Perm.

Other programmers from Perm, Rev Games, a gamification product development company, did not notice restrictions from application platforms due to their focus on the Russian market. However, IT specialists note that the problem with monetization is really serious - there are no direct channels for withdrawing funds from sales of the product or additional in-game content right now. The only source of income for developers is embedded advertising, which not every product has. However, programmers are already considering domestic analogues of Appstore and Google Market.

“Yes, we now actually have platforms from Sberbank, platforms from Yandex. I think there will be many more such platforms. In fact, we are also considering such opportunities for accommodation there. As a placement option, there is the Vkontakte social network, there is also a games platform there, ”says Mikhail Sidorov, COO of Rev Games.

The programmers also say that foreign investors either refuse to cooperate with Russian companies or offer to change their location in order to conclude a contract. However, no one is going to leave the Russian market. A huge growth in IT services within the domestic software segment has now been recorded, experts say.
