The head of the Komi Republic, Vladimir Uyba, contracted the coronavirus and was hospitalized. He announced this on Instagram.
According to Uyba, he was revaccinated against covid-19 in February of this year, but "still got sick."
“I <...> am now in a ward in the Republican Infectious Diseases Hospital. I got vaccinated with "Sputnik V" in February of this year, got a fairly high antibody titer, and now I'm re-infected. I want to say that if there were no vaccinations, then with the level of microbial infection that I now have according to the results of PCR, this disease would have proceeded in a very severe form,” Uyba said.
The head of Komi reported that his condition was satisfactory. According to him, “the infection behaves unpredictably,” and it is necessary to be vaccinated “without fail,” because when infected with a coronavirus in vaccinated people, the disease proceeds “without serious complications.” Uyba also urged residents of the region to follow preventive measures and wear masks in public places.
