Like all dairy products in the world, cheese has risen in price. Ukraine is not far behind in this regard, cheese makers intend to further increase prices. – PioneerProduct
The cost of Ukrainian cheese has almost always been higher than the world one. But now our cheese is already significantly more expensive than that of our Belarusian neighbors, and prices have come close to the level of Russia, where huge volumes of Ukrainian goods were once supplied.
Cheese makers believe that raising prices for cheese in the current situation is necessary for the survival of production. But this leads to the fact that the consumer is more and more inclined to buy cheaper imported cheese, gets used to the taste of cheaper, for example, Polish cheese. And if in the future prices even level off, then many will already make a choice in favor of a foreign product. In general, there will be very little chance of quickly resuming production, even if Ukrainian milk suddenly becomes cheap and gas prices drop significantly.
Some major operators intend to increase the price of cheese by another 5% in October; it will not be cheaper than 220 UAH/kg on the shelves in stores.
The production of real rennet cheese last month amounted to about 5.5 thousand tons (-18% compared to August 2020), and semi-solid cheese product 3.8 thousand tons. In September and even more so in October, cheese production in Ukraine will decrease even more.
