May 14, Minsk region. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko demands to restore order in the work of food markets and provide access for farmers. He stated this today, BelTA has learned.

First of all, the President asked how his instruction on the construction of a farmers' market was carried out, with the opportunity for everyone to trade in their own products.

"I wanted to see a farmers' market here, where any private or non-private trader, it doesn't matter, brought goods and sold them. And this should be a good competitor to Komarovka. But you had to take quality here, so that any person would come here, buy meat, dairy products, said something else: yes, this is an object of the 21st century,” Alexander Lukashenko noted.

As was reported to the head of state, in general, his instructions have been fulfilled and the concept of the farmers' market is preserved. However, there are some issues that still need to be addressed. For example, there are those who want to come to the market and sell their products only on weekends. However, it is important for the owners of a retail facility that its areas are used as much as possible and throughout the week.

In this regard, the President instructed to clearly define the concept of the facility in Valeryanovo, to find a balance between the interests of farmers, other trade participants and owners of the complex.

“For me, the main thing is a person. I am a village person. I know what it is to grow and be able to sell with my own hands,” the head of state said. “People should freely sell their goods. Access to the market should be unshakable.”

There was also a proposal to create an organization that would buy products from farmers, individuals and then centrally sell them on the market, by analogy with Belkoopsoyuz. The advantages for farmers in this case are that they will not have to regularly rent places for sale, purchase cash registers, spend money on delivery, and so on.

Alexander Lukashenko generally supported this idea: “I am absolutely not against it. The main thing is to push a person, if possible, so that he cultivates products. And he will do this if they come to him, buy and he will make a profit.”

"If we want private traders, farmers to develop, they must be given the opportunity to grow and sell," the President emphasized.

He emphasized that the requirement to restore order and provide farmers with access to trading places applies to all food markets in the country. "We need to return to the issue of control over the markets, see how it is at Komarovka. Maybe intermediaries have appeared there again, as it used to be? - the President drew attention. - We need to look now and put things in order in all markets."

“People should freely sell their goods both in Komarovka and in all markets. Decently and freely,” Aleksandr Lukashenko repeated his demand.

The President paid special attention to ensuring the safety of food products that come to the shelves. "Food safety must be indisputable," the Belarusian leader demanded.

The issue of possible changes in the structure of the owners of the trading house "Valeryanovo" was also discussed to attract additional investment and further comprehensive development of the facility (the investors in the construction were the agro-combines "Zhdanovichi" and "Dzerzhinsky", LLC "Veles-Mit" and Minsk Dairy Plant No. 1) .

The President was generally interested in what else is needed to fully implement the concept and not create a copy of a large shopping center from this place, which there are many in Minsk. As was reported to the head of state, in the near future it is planned to fully use all areas of the shopping complex, including the second and third floors, after which it will be possible to objectively and fully assess how efficiently and in accordance with the concept the facility works.
