In Buryatia, the possibility of rising prices for meat due to an outbreak of lumpy dermatitis was assessed

The Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Buryatia answered questions about the possibility of increasing MEAT prices due to an outbreak of lumpy skin disease. Since the beginning of January, more than 2,000 sick animals have been killed and their bodies burned.

As recalled in the department, price increases occur when there is a shortage of certain products. At the same time, there is no shortage of meat in the republic. And the liquidated 2.2 thousand heads of livestock accounted for less than 0.5% of the total livestock.

“The total number of cattle in Buryatia as of December 1, 2021 is 332,600 heads, there are 127,700 pigs, 51,000 horses in the republic, and 293,900 sheep and goats,” the ministry noted.
