The Union of Pig Breeders expects wholesale prices to remain at the level of 2020

Today, at the XII branch business conference "Meat and Compound Feed Industry", organized by the magazine "Agroinvestor", the HEAD of the National Union of Pig Breeders (NSS) Yuri Kovalev said that he expects wholesale prices for pork to remain at the level of 2020.

According to the forecast of the industry association, selling prices in the pig breeding sector may decrease by 4-5% in the near future, and by the end of the current year they will remain at last year's level. In any case, within the limits of food inflation, Kovalev added.

A possible decrease in wholesale prices, according to the expert, is associated with an increase in domestic production within 3-4%. The original forecast of 5% had to be revised due to the widespread occurrence of African swine fever. RUSSIA practically refused to import pork , recalled the DIRECTOR general of the NSS.

Thus, an increase in domestic production by 150-180 thousand tons is expected. There are no large EXPORT reserves, Yuri Kovalev believes. Domestic exporters need to gain a foothold in those foreign markets they have entered.
