
RUSSIA can increase the production of turkey MEAT to 700 thousand tons by 2030, according to a press release from the National Association of Turkey Producers (NAPI), timed to coincide with the first congress of this industry association.
In 2020, the production of turkey meat was also a record compared to the previous year - it increased by 20%, to 329.665 thousand tons. This year, NAPI also predicts growth by 20%, up to 400 thousand tons. But this figure can be achieved if avian influenza does not spread in the country, the press release says.
Currently, there are more than 20 large producers of turkey meat in the Russian Federation. The market leaders are Damate Group of Companies, Krasnobor, PK Ural, RuskomAgro, and Tambov Turkey. They account for about 80% of turkey meat production.
As reported by the consulting agency Agrifood Strategies, in the first half of this year, in all categories of farms in the Russian Federation, turkey meat production amounted to 172,310 tons, which is 6.3% more than in the same period last year.
The agency also predicts production of almost 400 thousand tons this year, which will bring Russia closer to the first place in Europe and the second in the world in this indicator.
The record, according to Agrifood Strategies, was the EXPORT of turkey products in the first half of this year. 8,611 tons of turkey meat were shipped abroad, which is comparable to exports for the entire last year - 8,658 tons. At the same time, the value of exports in January-June increased even more significantly - from $13.48 million to $16.8 million, the average price - by 25.2%: from $1.55 to $1.94 per 1 kg.
