African swine fever detected on the territory of the Voronezh region bordering the Lipetsk region

According to the Veterinary Administration of the Lipetsk Region, the epizootic situation in the regions of RUSSIA regarding African swine fever remains tense.


In early August, on the territory of the Novokhopersky district of the Voronezh region bordering the Lipetsk region, an infected object was detected - African fever was detected among domestic pigs.

- Epizootological laboratory monitoring of slaughter pigs and their slaughter products for the presence of African swine fever pathogens has been strengthened in the Lipetsk Region. In 2021, studies were carried out on 25.8 thousand samples from domestic pigs in industrial pig farms and the private sector. More than 15,000 samples have already been examined this year, the Veterinary Administration notes.

Epizootological monitoring for the presence of the ASF virus from 100% of dead and shot wild boars was provided. In 2021, 152 samples of material from dead and shot wild boars were tested, and 253 samples have already been tested this year. ASF virus was not found in the samples.

Pig owners are asked not to allow persons not related to animal service to visit the premises.

- Transfer pigs to the free-range mode. Owners of private farms and farms should keep pigs in pigsties and barns without walking and contact with other animals, the veterinary department reports. - Avoid feeding pigs with animal feed and food waste without cooking. Buy feed only industrial production or boil them at a temperature of at least 80 ° C before feeding, carry out veterinary and sanitary measures (disinfection, disinfestation, deratization). Do not throw away animal carcasses, waste from their maintenance and processing in landfills, roadsides, burial of animal carcasses in your garden or other land is strictly prohibited. Do not attempt to process the MEAT of dead or forced slaughtered pigs - this is prohibited and may lead to further spread of the disease. Do not buy live pigs in unauthorized trade places and on Internet sites without accompanying veterinary documents, do not import pigs and pig products from other regions without the consent of the state veterinary service. In the event that a wild boar carcass is found, the pigs show signs of disease or suddenly die, you should immediately report this to the Animal Disease Control Station in your area.
