The HEAD of the National MEAT Association, Sergei Yushin, noted that in 2024 , the figure is expected to increase by another 10%.
RUSSIA exported a record volume of meat products in 2023, and in 2024, the figure is expected to increase by another 10%. This was reported by the head of the National Meat Association, Sergei Yushin, in an interview in the TASS studio at the Government Coordination Center at the International Exhibition and Forum "Russia".
"The first quarter is starting off quite well. Our exports to non-CIS countries are growing at a moderate rate of around 3-8% for different types of meat, and sales markets are expanding. I think that our task is to at least increase the volume of deliveries by 10%. Last year, Russia delivered a record volume of livestock products. In total, the volume of livestock product exports, including live animals and non-food products, exceeded 1 million tons worth $2 billion," Yushin said.
He also noted the expansion of the geography of Russian meat product deliveries. According to him, Russia has the right to deliver to almost 100 countries. "We regularly supply to about 60 countries, in different years - up to 70 countries," the expert said.
He also emphasized that Russian meat products are popular on the world market, but so far Russia occupies a relatively modest place in the world meat trade. Speaking about the import of meat products, he noted that Russia is a country that is more than 100% self-sufficient in meat and is a net exporter of meat and meat products.
According to him, last year, poultry imports amounted to just over 200 thousand tons, beef - approximately 300 thousand tons, while pork imports decreased to almost zero. "In general, the share of imports in consumption is 4.3%," the expert emphasized.
At the end of March, in a presentation given by the head of ROSSELKHOZNADZOR Sergei Dankvert at the final board meeting of the agency, it was reported that the EXPORT of all types of meat from Russia in 2023 amounted to 649 thousand tons, imports - 586 thousand tons.
