" Taganrog " and " Aksai " poultry farms in the Rostov region will resume work in the near future. At the end of March, the planting of young animals had already begun on them, the press service of the regional government reported. Both factories were previously closed. At Taganrogskaya in the fall of 2020, there was an outbreak of bird flu, due to which about 840 thousand birds had to be destroyed. At Aksayskaya, production was stopped due to a change in the technological scheme for keeping and cross-country poultry.

Enterprises specialize in the production of eggs, the share of factories accounted for up to 45% of the total production of eggs in the region. “The first products will be received in the second half of the year. According to experts, both poultry farms will reach full capacity in 2022. The restoration of chicken egg production will help stabilize selling prices in the region, ”the press service quotes Viktor Goncharov, First Deputy Governor of the Rostov Region, as saying. Almost 163 thousand heads of poultry were planted at the Taganrog poultry farm in March, by the end of the year the number should increase to 874 thousand. in February, the press service of the regional government, the first product - a marketable chicken egg - is planned to be received in August this year. Taganrogskaya plans to produce 215 million eggs this year.

Poultry farms in the Rostov region often suffer from bird flu. Thus, Eurodon, which once worked in the region, was once the country's leader in the production of turkeys, after a series of outbreaks of the disease, could not recover and went bankrupt. Its assets were later transferred to the current largest turkey producer, the Damate group. However, in February, an avian influenza virus was also detected at one of its sites in the Krasnosulinsky district and quarantine was introduced. The entire livestock was liquidated at the enterprise - about 213 thousand turkeys.

President of Agrifood Strategies Albert Davleev then noted that now in the Rostov region a decision is being made on the total vaccination of the entire population of birds against influenza. ARRIAH Leading Specialist Viktor Irza said that in 2020, about 4 million birds were killed due to this disease. The activation of the disease last year is associated with its active spread through household plots and small farms. “They are the main breeding ground for the disease. The primary source is a wild bird that spreads the virus, another reason is insufficient sanitary culture and the possible concealment of the case, ”said the expert. Among the large enterprises affected by avian influenza in 2020, he named the Irtysh poultry farm in the Omsk region, Taganrog in Rostov, Buiskaya in Kostroma, and the Zalesny agricultural firm in Tatarstan.
