Scientists from the Czech Republic set up an experiment to study the effects of adding flaxseed and hemp to bird feed on bird HEALTH and weight gain. The results of the study, published in the journal Animal, showed that broiler chickens fed hemp and flax seeds gained weight faster.

As scientists explained, hemp and flax seeds activate fermentation processes in the intestines. Due to this, the bird's body can break down complex compounds from the feed on a large scale, receiving nutrients. According to scientists, the optimal seed supplements for feed should be 80 g for flaxseed and 50 g for hempseed.

In addition to activating fermentation processes, flax and hemp seeds are rich in nutrients, proteins, fats, and fiber. Scientists suggest that they can replace some elements of feed, such as rapeseed, wheat, soy FLOUR. Thus, feed will become more nutritious, growth of chickens will accelerate and feed costs will be reduced, scientists say.
