Brazil is now able to sell these products to CHINA thanks to a protocol signed between the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA) and the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) on sanitary and quarantine requirements for processed terrestrial animal protein.
Processed poultry and pork protein includes MEAT and bone meal, bones, blood and feathers among other products and is used in the production of animal feed. Brazil is one of the largest exporters of terrestrial animal proteins after the European Union, the US and Australia. China is the third largest buyer of the product.
According to the protocol, enterprises interested in trading with China must have a Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) quality management system and effective traceability. Only raw materials from animals born and raised in Brazil in areas free from foot-and-mouth disease, classical swine fever, African swine fever, swine vesicular disease and highly pathogenic avian influenza, slaughtered in officially authorized establishments and subjected to pre- and post-mortem inspections can be exported in China.
