Over the past 24 hours, two accidents involving drunk drivers occurred in Brest.

March 16, MINSK . Over the past 24 hours, two accidents involving drunk drivers occurred in Brest, the traffic police department of the Brest Regional Executive Committee told BELTA.

So, on March 15, at about 10:06 p.m., a 43-year-old Brest resident, being in a state ofALCOHOL intoxication (1.8 ppm), drove a SKODA car and moved along Moskovskaya Street. According to preliminary information, at the intersection with Sovetskaya Konstitutsii Street, he ran a red light and collided with a Volkswagen taxi driven by a 28-year-old local resident. As a result of the accident, the driver and 60-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen were hospitalized. The driver of the Skoda fled the scene, but was soon identified and detained by traffic police. An investigation into this fact is currently underway.
 
Also on March 15, at about 11 p.m., a 43-year-old Brest resident was driving a Ford car and moving along October Revolution Street. At the intersection with Volgogradskaya Street, he showed inattention and hit a curb. As a result of the accident, the car received mechanical damage and a curb was damaged. According to external signs, the driver was intoxicated, but refused to undergo the examination in accordance with the established procedure.

For driving a vehicle while intoxicated and refusing to undergo an examination, administrative liability arises in the form of a fine of 100 to 200 basic units (1 BV - Br40) with deprivation of the right to drive for a period of 3 to 5 years.
