Minsk . Comprehensive rehabilitation activities will be organized in special schools for teenagers suffering from
alcohol or drug addiction. This was announced by Vasily Demidovich, Deputy
Head of the Department for the Organization of Work of Juvenile Inspectorates of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
He noted that the department has carried out extensive
work on legislative initiatives in order to provide comprehensive assistance to children. "Currently, our main
law on the prevention of neglect and juvenile delinquency has been revised.
It was recently considered in the second reading in the Council of the Republic. It contains a number of fundamental changes regarding work with drug users.
Alcohol and drugs. The bill provides for the possibility of providing specialized assistance to children suffering from alcohol or drug addiction. This involves sending them to special schools upon parental request. We will organize comprehensive rehabilitation measures for these teenagers," explained Vasily Demidovich.
According to the deputy head, this work will primarily be carried out by representatives of the healthcare and education sectors. "Comprehensive rehabilitation will include medical, psychological, pedagogical, and educational components. The most important goal we sought to achieve was removing the child from the familiar environment in which they were immersed. We need to separate them from friends, colleagues, and comrades who involved them in drug trafficking. The period of stay in a special school can range from three months to a year. At the same time, the child can return home at any time upon parental request. We still have a lot of work to do in this area. After the head of state signs this
bill , we will have another six months to bring all legislative acts into compliance. "We'll need to develop a parental application form and so on," Vasily Demidovich informed.
