Azerbaijan plans to buy cattle from Belarus to support local farmers, he told journalists.
Azerbaijani Agriculture Minister Majnun Mammadov on the sidelines of the talks between the heads of state in Baku, BELTA reports.
"We are considering options for importing
cattle from Belarus to Azerbaijan to implement self-employment programs. At the first stage, we plan to import 500 heads, and then we will look at demand," Majnun Mammadov said.
The minister explained that 80% of Azerbaijan's agriculture is based on small farms. Rural residents keep several heads of livestock, and the state tries to support them. This ensures employment in the countryside. The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of Azerbaijan has adopted a corresponding program.
"They buy cattle and provide them to farmers so that they can receive
MILK and use the products they produce," the
HEAD of the agricultural department said.
