Agricultural organizations of the Chausy district have started harvesting fodder. Mowing is not yet being done en masse, but in individual fields. But the district's farms are not wasting time - they are sowing leguminous forage crops and preparing the soil for alfalfa. The farmers know that there is no time to waste - the weather has turned out great, which means they need to make the most of every minute. After all, the well-being of their families, farms, the region and the entire country will depend on the forage base they lay. A BELTA correspondent also went to the Chausy district to find out how the work is going and in what mood the machine operators go out into the field in the morning. Work is in full swing at Mirny Agro OJSC - they have started harvesting forage. A mower, a rake, a chopper, vehicles for transportation - green forage is being harvested on a field of almost 50 hectares. Winter rape and winter rye have been sown here using the sown method. As the chief agronomist of the farm, Sergey Savoshko, explained, such methods of sowing and harvesting help to prepare more nutritious feed, while preserving all the useful properties. "We are harvesting green-cut rye, which was sown last fall, for haylage. Winter rape is also here. The arrays are sown using the coulisse method. The field is almost 50 hectares, of which 18 are green-cut winter rye, 29 hectares are winter rape, intended for green feed, - he notes. - We started mowing a few days ago." As the chief agronomist emphasized, there is a lot of work to be done. "This year we have been given a plan of 6 thousand tons of haylage, 8 thousand tons of silage, 500 tons of hay," says Sergey Savoshko. "Our conditional livestock is about 1.3 thousand heads, the dairy herd is somewhere around 600 heads. We have changed the technology of feeding the cattle, the
MILK yield has increased. And since the milk yield is growing, the profit of the enterprise is growing." As the chief agronomist reported, last year they prepared more feed than the plan required. And therefore the livestock of the farm is provided with high-quality feed until autumn. Such a reserve and an early start to mowing this year are a guarantee that the farm will have good yields of high-quality milk. The plans for the first mowing are big, after which they will begin mowing perennial grasses. A clear schedule and adherence to all technological standards - the farmers understand that
it is important not to miss a single fine minute. "Our task is to mow on time, at the right stage, to dry the green mass to a certain humidity level - 50-55%. To harvest correctly, to add the necessary high-quality preservatives to the feed. It is necessary to provide the animals with nutritious feed, observing all the necessary technologies. This way we will be able to preserve all the most nutritious substances," he said. "We have a good core of workers. People understand that working on the land is a responsible business, and therefore it is necessary to give their best."
Vladimir Karman, a machine operator at Mirny Agro, is an experienced fighter. He has been working on the farm for almost 30 years. The man shared that he is originally from these places, and his life has developed as in the proverb - where you were born, there you will be useful. His wife also works on the farm, and therefore everyone in Vladimir's family knows that being a farmer is a responsible and difficult task. Although
the work is difficult, Vladimir loves his job. "I grew up here, with machinery since childhood. And someone has to feed the family and the country," he says.
Vladimir Karman's working day begins at 6 am, or even earlier: before going out into the field, the machine needs to be checked. This is a mandatory ritual. The machine operator works in the fields all daylight hours. A hot lunch is delivered directly to the field, and this significantly saves the machine operators and drivers time in transporting the green mixture. The lunches are full and tasty, no one goes hungry.
"We have already entered the hot season. Our work is not finished. Now we are preparing feed, then we will smoothly move on to harvesting grain," he said. "Now we are in a hurry so as not to lose on the quality of feed. A lot depends on this: milk yield, and how
the calves will grow."
The green mixture is taken away for storage. After all, it is important not only to harvest it on time, but also to preserve it correctly.
A little further, in the fields of the neighboring agricultural enterprise "Golovenchitsy", work is also in full swing - they are sowing on 20 hectares
peas , which will become a protein supplement in
cattle feed in the future .
Vitaly Levinte, a machine operator, is driving a tractor with a seeder. This is far from the first season of agricultural work for
the man - he has been working on the farm for 15 years. "We went out to the fields somewhere in the middle of March, earlier than last year. First we sowed spring crops, then we switched to sowing legumes. We will finish here, and then we will work," the man explains. "We have enough fuel and seeds, the weather was a little disappointing, but we are doing our job. Now we need to sow in a short time, we are trying to do everything as quickly as possible, with the highest quality. While there is no drought, there is moisture, which means the plants will grow. This moment cannot be missed."
The machine operator assured that the farmers face serious tasks year after year: despite all the risks and weather, to provide their farm, region and country with the necessary agricultural products: animal feed, grain and harvest. "A lot depends on this work: how the family will be provided for, and how the country will be. That is why we try and work.
" OJSC Golovenchitsy has big plans for forage procurement this year - more than 21 thousand tons of silage, haylage and hay need to be prepared, and 12.5 thousand tons of summer feed. The farm has everything necessary for this work - the main thing is to do everything responsibly and on time.
